Who we are

What we collect and why
We use Google Firebase as our backend. We collect the minimum needed to run the game.
| Data | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Anonymous user ID (Firebase Authentication) | Give each player a game identity without asking for personal details | Until you delete the account or uninstall |
| Email address & name — only if you sign in with Google or Apple | Save your progress and restore it on a new device | Until you delete the account |
| Game progress (XP, level, streak, coins, herbarium, cosmetics) | Run the game and sync it across your devices when signed in | Until you delete the account; local copy until uninstall |
| Usage & event data (Firebase Analytics) — screens viewed, rounds played, approximate region, device model, OS version | Understand overall usage and improve the game | Per Google Analytics retention settings |
| Crash & diagnostic data (Firebase Crashlytics) | Diagnose and fix crashes | Per Crashlytics retention |
| Device integrity token (Firebase App Check) | Block abuse and fraud against our backend | Short-lived |
| On-device settings (reminder time, preferences) | Remember your choices and schedule the optional daily reminder | On your device only, until uninstall |
We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, or microphone/camera data. The App asks for notification permission only if you enable the daily reminder; reminders are scheduled on your device and send us nothing.
Flower images load from Wikimedia Commons; when an image loads, Wikimedia’s servers receive your device’s IP address, as with any website.
No ads, no selling
This version contains no advertising and no in-app purchases. We do not sell personal data and do not use it for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking. There is no advertising identifier (IDFA/AAID) used for ads.
Children & families
Flora Quiz is a family-friendly, general-audience game suitable for players of all ages, including children. We designed it to be safe for kids: no ads, no in-app purchases, no third-party advertising or tracking, and only the minimal data described above.
Where a user is a child, we handle their data in line with children’s privacy laws (such as the U.S. COPPA and GDPR protections for minors): we do not knowingly collect more than is needed to run the game, and we never use children’s data for advertising. A parent or guardian may review or request deletion of a child’s data at any time by using in-app account deletion or by emailing contact@floraquiz.app.
Sharing & transfers
We share data only with the processors that run the service (Google Firebase) and where required by law. Firebase may process data on servers outside your country, including the United States; Google provides Standard Contractual Clauses for such transfers.
Your rights & data deletion
Depending on where you live (e.g. the EEA/UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA), you may request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of your data, and object to certain processing.
- Delete everything in the App: Settings → Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your account and its data from our servers and from your device.
- Or email contact@floraquiz.app and we will respond within 30 days.
Security
All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Access to backend data is restricted to the App’s owner.
Changes
We may update this policy; the “Last updated” date reflects the latest version. Material changes will be surfaced in the App or store listing.
